Peter A. Lynch, Esq. After graduating from Union College in 1976, and Albany Law School in 1979, I was admitted to practice law in New York State, and the United States District Court, Northern District, in January 1980, and have been so engaged in the private practice of law to date. In 1983, I was also admitted to practice law in the State of Florida. Over the last 26 years, I have continuously been engaged in the general practice of law in Albany, New York, with a heavy concentration on litigation (both as trial and appellate counsel), land use and development work, SEQRA compliance, real estate transactions ranging from residential closings to complex major commercial transactions, franchise work, estate proceedings, criminal law, and matrimonial law. Since admission to the Bar in 1980, I have also worked, part time, as a Public Defender, on a parallel tract with my private sector work. From 1986 to date, I have been the head of the major felony trial unit of the office, and, presently serve as the Deputy Public Defender. In 1996, I was certified to serve as Lead Counsel in Capital Cases, and served in such capacity in four (4) Capital cases to date. To date, I have served as lead trial counsel in over 200 jury trials. My trial experience has encompassed a wide range, running from personal injury, medical malpractice, construction litigation, matrimonial actions, and real property cases on the civil end, to every variety of major felony on the criminal end, including over 30 major Murder trials. Representing individuals from every walk of life has not posed a conflict, but, rather, a balance of legal experiences with one common theme. Whether I am dealing with my largest private sector client, or my most disadvantaged public sector client, experience manifests the need to treat each client, equally, with courtesy and respect. Apart from my trial work, I have appeared before numerous Planning Boards, Zoning Boards, City Councils and Town Board’s, to represent individuals seeking municipal approval (e.g. Zone Changes, Use variance, Area Variance, Special Use Permits, Subdivision, Site Plan Approval, and the like) to develop a given project, ranging from residential subdivisions to commercial projects. In each case, I have not only worked through the applicable zoning and subdivision regulations, but also the corresponding SEQRA compliance issues. I have also served as counsel in literally dozens of Article 78 Proceedings and Declaratory Judgment actions for claims arising out of the municipal review process. Presently, our firm is heavily engaged in representing a wide variety of clients. We offer a hands-on approach, and I am personally involved in all aspects of our cases. We have always strived to represent our client’s best interests, and shall continue to do so.
